ABOUT

Mornington Counselling Practice is led by Tammie, a specialist in personalised birthing preparation, birth trauma, parenting children with complex medical needs, death and dying, and supporting anyone who has been given a life changing diagnosis. Tammie’s background in nursing, midwifery, education, funeral work and counselling, as well as her lived experience, informs her calm, compassionate presence and her understanding of the complexities people face.

While also available to support people through general life challenges and stress, Both Tammie’s professional and personal experience in the intense transitions in life; birth and death, have fostered a passion for exploring both your fragility and strength in these immensely human experiences. Delving into the ocean of emotions and thoughts that arise around these areas, Tammie helps you to find clarity and calm.

As a counsellor and parent of an adopted child (as well as three bio children and two step children), Tammie co-authored Lionheart- The Real Life Guide for Adoptive Families.

Sessions are available in person in Mornington or via secure telehealth for clients Australia-wide. Every consultation is tailored to your needs ensuring each client feels truly heard and understood.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step — here's what to expect at Mornington Counselling Practice.

Whether you're new to therapy or returning after time away, the process is designed to be approachable, respectful, and transparent. If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you, you're welcome to book a short introductory call to ask questions and see if it's the right fit.

In your first session, you’ll work together to understand what’s brought you to counselling, identify priorities, and deeply understanding your needs. Each session is personalised, grounded in active listening and utilises evidence-informed techniques.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length and are offered in person or via secure telehealth.

Additional Support & Resources

To support clients beyond sessions, Mornington Counselling Practice also provides:

Introductory phone calls to ensure a good therapeutic fit
